Newcastle United’s star striker Alexander Isak looks closer than ever to leaving St. James’ Park, with Liverpool firmly in pursuit.
The 25-year-old has made no secret of his desire to join the Reds this summer. Liverpool have already made a significant bid, but Newcastle turned it down, insisting he’s not for sale.
However, keeping hold of an unhappy player rarely works out well. Isak has reportedly told the club he doesn’t want to play for them again, putting pressure on Newcastle to reconsider their stance.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider), Isak’s “dream move” to Anfield is still likely to happen:
“He’s made it clear — he wants to leave. It’s now about whether Liverpool can agree on a fee with Newcastle. If no deal is reached, it could become a difficult situation for everyone. The best outcome would be for Newcastle to reluctantly sell and reinvest in the squad.”
Liverpool, meanwhile, urgently need attacking reinforcements. With Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz already departing and Diogo Jota sidelined after an accident earlier this summer, the team is short on firepower. Signing a proven Premier League striker like Isak could be exactly what they need to challenge for major trophies again.
Many believe Isak is the league’s most in-form striker right now — and this could be the perfect moment for him to step up to a club competing at the very top.
