As expected, Auxerre has officially announced the loan of Sékou Mara from Strasbourg, without an option to buy. The club even released a playful video highlighting the deal and adding a subtle jab at Lens: “Loan guaranteed, no McDonald’s negotiations needed.”
The comment appears to be a cheeky response to recent complaints from Lens director Jean-Louis Leca, who was frustrated by failed talks over Lassine Sinayoko.
Leca had described the situation on RMC: “I met the player at a McDonald’s in Auxerre. He was on board. Then, on Sunday, he was in Paris with his agent, ready to join us. Suddenly, we received an email at 3 p.m. saying he was forbidden to travel. They threatened the player, saying legal action would follow if he did. The young player wanted to come, but he was caught in the middle. He didn’t know what to do. He was taken hostage.”
In the end, Auxerre secured the talented forward, while Lens’ attempt to sign him collapsed in dramatic fashion.
